Last week I wanted to go to Iceland. I woke up with enough time to catch the flight, but having not packed, still sick, and a bit broke, I just stayed home (What?! I stayed home?). AThe 3 combo just didn’t seem like a good start to a far off adventure, so my five days off turned me into a Southern California Tourist.

One of the perks of being a flight attendant, or working in the airline industry is that it’s normal to be on opposite corners of the earth between the span of morning and evening. AWalking along Brooklyn Brownstone lined streets at sunrise, and running through the sand on a Southern California Beach at sunset. AIt’s not uncommon for one to hear some airline employees say, “Yeah, I went to Hong Kong for lunch.”

From Brooklyn

To the beach in one day.

Day trips to Paris, London, Rome? AWhat a life?! AAirline personnel almost mirrors the lifestyles of the rich and famous, minus the rich and famous part of course.AI haven’t done anything as extravagant as a day trip to Europe…yet, but San Francisco for a few hours or a day in San Diego; not so far-fetched:)

During my week of being a Southern California tourist, San Diego was the destination of choice for a recent day off.

The San Diego Zoo

Also Check outAOld TownAandALittle Italy. AIt costs $5 for a day pass on the public bus. AIt’s really easy to figure out, convenient, and fairly quick as far as California public transportation goes.

I actually just got to Iceland after all, so I can’t keep writing about Southern California. I have to look at the scenery here!
