I don’t want to stand in front of them sometimes. They stare. All they do is stare, and they have full permission to do so. I’m standing on “stage” to show how to fasten and unfasten the seatbelt by pulling on the top end of the buckle, and that the nearest exit may be behind them…
Where’s my nearest exit again? It would be so nice to take one. Right. Now.
The safety demo makes me squirm. Word-for-word, I have the monologue memorized, whether it be speaking into the PA or demonstrating how to use the oxygen mask, it’s an easy pantomime. I just feel so awkward! Should I smile or be straight-faced? Where do I stare?
Whenever I travel on other airline that have the video safety demo, I’m jealous. Those stews don’t have to be center stage, all eyes on us, and why should they? The plane isn’t a club.
If you haven’t seen the following airline safety demo videos take a look. And one, although not a video, is entertaining, and that’s why it is included in this post.
As for me, I’ll be center aisle today. Where’s my lip gloss?
